BREAKING NEWS! The Avengers Are Coming To Johannesburg, South Africa!!!

Huge news to South Africans for February is the shooting of Avengers: Age of Ultron (2015). Looks like the action for everyone's favourite heroes has gone international and not mainly isolated to America as in the first movie where the battle of New York formed the majority of the action. The sequel will also be shot in Korea and Italy as well.

Here's more from Channel24.co.za:

"Johannesburg - South African movie fans could be in for a treat as it was announced on Saturday that parts of superhero adventure Marvel’s Avengers: Age of Ultron will be shot in parts of Johannesburg and other parts of Gauteng.

The film is a follow up to Joss Whedon’s megahit film The Avengers and is set for release in 2015.

Action photography sequences will be shot throughout the city but will not include principle cast members such as Scarlett Johansson or Chris Hemsworth.

The production is scheduled to begin in mid February and last for two weeks.

The first Avengers was the fastest film ever to gross $1bn at the box office worldwide and is the 3rd highest grossing film of all time.

“We’re thrilled that Marvel Studios is bringing a major motion picture project to Johannesburg, and we’re committed to showing them the very best our region has to offer,” said Gauteng Film Commission CEO Ms Phindile Mbanujwa.

Johannesburg Mayor Parks Tausaid: “We are excited to host Marvel... It strengthens Johannesburg’s position as a worldwide film production centre with first class facilities and production support."

So if any of you superhero and action fans are out there in Johannesburg, South Africa and the shooting is close by, go have a look, who knows it may be the chance of a lifetime!
